Questions it actually answers
Should the next $10,000 go in a TFSA, an FHSA or an RRSP?
Four accounts compared over 25 years at your own marginal rate, with what each one gives up to get there.
Can we actually afford this house?
The cash to close assembled from the accounts you hold, priced per dollar, and the gap named plainly when it does not fund.
Are we better off renting?
The same household run twice — buying, and never buying — and the year owning takes the lead, or the fact that it never does.
What happens if the rate jumps at renewal?
The whole plan re-run with one thing changed, answering whether it still funds itself rather than how much worse it looks.
Built for Canadian rules, not converted from American ones
Most planning tools treat Canada as a settings toggle. This one starts from the real thing: marginal brackets with the Ontario surtax and health premium, CPP2 and EI ceilings applied per person because there is no joint return, TFSA, FHSA and RRSP room that tracks your own history, and a house module built on CMHC premiums, land transfer tax and suite income — all on one tested engine.
How it works
Tell it about you, once
Four questions: who is in the plan, what you earn, what goes out, and whether a home is in the picture. Everything else starts at a sourced default you can see and change.
It computes the Canadian rules properly
Federal and Ontario tax from the brackets up, CPP, CPP2 and EI per person, TFSA, FHSA and RRSP room, the Home Buyers’ Plan, CMHC and land transfer tax. Every constant links to the CRA, CMHC, OSFI or the Act itself.
You decide how much to see
A control on the page moves the whole thing between one clear answer and every table at once. Nothing is hidden behind it, and no warning is ever out of reach.
Fair questions
Is this financial advice?
No. It is an information tool. Outputs are a direct result of the assumptions you choose, computed from cited public rules. Consult a qualified professional before acting.
Where does my data go?
Nowhere. Your plan is computed in your browser and saved only in this browser’s storage. There are no accounts and no analytics — a breach of our servers could not leak your plan, because our servers do not have it.
Are the numbers current?
Rules as of 2026. Every rate, bracket and premium carries its primary source and effective date, and the whole list is on the sources page.
What does it cost?
Nothing today. When there is a price, what it buys is depth, control and permanence — never a better answer, and never a number you can no longer see.
